Australia
is always known for its unique coffee/café culture and it’s a shame that I
still haven’t blogged about any cafes in Perth yet. Here you go a review for tbsp.
– one that’s recommended not only by many prestigious online media but also my
food lover friends.
Went
there on a Saturday afternoon and man it was really packed for a café of that
size. Luckily my friend and I managed to secure the last two spots on a long shared
table.
Loved
that well lit environment (trust me, many restaurants in Perth don’t even have
proper lighting, let alone proper décor) and scientific yet cute chalk drawing
of a tablespoon (I guess?)
There
are about 15 items in their food menu but they got almost all brunch staples,
from sweet to savoury and from rice to burger dishes covered. We surely did our
homework so we ordered their signature brisket benedict and sweet French toast right
after skimming through the menu.
Kick
starting a breakfast with coffee is always a good idea and with this smooth and
creamy flat white (AUD$4) my meal would only be better.
The
brisket benedict (AUD$24) was massive!!! Every single ingredient was cooked to
perfection and they complemented each other exceptionally well. Moist, sticky
and tender pulled beef, oozy egg yolk, sweet caramelized onions, gooey and
slightly spicy hollandaise, and that crunchy ciabatta made a benedict heaven. Best
to share with a friend though, as it was really filling and creamy.
Sweet
French toast (AUD$17.50) was equally photogenic and tasty with that nicely
fried brioche, freeze dried raspberry bits and cereal crunch. Would have been
even better if a little more syrup could be given on the side though.
And
this was how the place looked by the time we left (yea we took our sweet time
enjoying our food :p).
Best
brisket benedict I’ve had by far. Go grab yours if you haven’t tried!
