Asian Tapas night - Aroma

Having said that I hang out in Wan Chai area quite a lot, I seldom go beyond Wan Chai Road as most restaurants are congregated further down on Amoy Street and Tai Wong Street East. Last week, however, I went all the way to Stone Nullah Lane for dinner since this place is recommended by friends.

For those who might want to visit, pay attention to the door number as the entrance is extremely easy to be missed.

I was seated on the 2nd floor with vintage and modern style décor. On the walls were full of fun posters and vinyl records. Quite a cozy and comfy place for dinner or happy hour with pop songs played in the background while not overwhelmingly loud.

Was craving something cold and refreshing on a rainy night so I got myself a Strawberry coconut mojito ($55). It was surprisingly light and good as coconut water instead of coconut milk is used! Enjoyed every sip of it.

We ordered a few tapas to share as well. Simply irresistible with such low price tags!

X.O. Maitake ($58) was the only healthy item we ordered. Chewy and bouncy maitake mushrooms seasoned with dried scallops and chilli. Could have been more seasoned and spicier.

Deep fried chicken wings with preserved egg yolk ($68) were pipping hot with salted egg yolk bubbling when served! Every single piece of chicken wings was nicely coated with salted egg yolk but personally I prefer salted egg yolk on seafood. The saltiness go better together with briny flavours rather than chicken meat.

Oxtail spring roll ($68) was another creative fusion dish we’ve tried. Tender and flavoursome beef brisket in thin crispy skins made this dish heavenly. Don’t forget to dip it in their house-made chilli bean paste mayo to maximize your enjoyment!

24 Hours sous vide pork belly ($198) was so huge that it could be shared among 3 person. Crunchy skin, scrumptious pork and tangy pineapple sauce made a great fulfilling main course. The pork could have been more tender though if it was under sous vide treatment for such long hours.

Food was not bad at all but didn’t make me go wow. Still a place to recommend for their good vibes, friendly price and attentive service.
