Jamón
serrano toast ($68) was a great starter with super strong garlic aroma in
chopped tomato. Went really well with Jamón serrano that was slightly greasy
(in a good way) and savoury.
Looks
like tuna is a thing since poke bowls have gone wildly popular in the US. As
suggested by the name, tuna salad replaced the yolk and mayo mixture in tuna
salad devil eggs ($68). The fish cubes were nicely marinated and coated with
sauce but would have been better if the yolk was blended in the tuna salad too.
The portion of this seafood paella squid ink ($208/regular) is just right for 3 person (probably not enough for my buddies though). Don’t be deceived by the looks of this dish as it’s actually full of seafood and squid ink flavours. The only complaint is that it was just a bit on the salty side.
Grilled
lamb rack ($258) looked really appealing and appetizing with all that medium
rare meat and colourful sides! It was tender, juicy and not as gamey as I
thought.
And
how can you end a Spanish meal without churros ($68)? Freshly fried to golden
brown and dusted with sugar and cinnamon, these babies were crunchy and
palatable without being too sweet (although I would have preferred milk chocolate
sauce rather than dark chocolate sauce :p).
Had
a real good time hanging out with my buddies at this simple and homey
restaurant. Food was up to standard even though there was no wow factors (yes
I’m constantly looking for this). With almost no competitors nearby, Rojo
easily tops the list for Spanish cuisine in the area.
