Donut
lovers attention please! J.Co, the donut and coffee concept store originated in
Indonesia and hugely popular in the southeast Asian region is landing in Hong
Kong this week! I'm here to show off (oh well, share to be precise) my preview
of their offerings~
Conveniently
located on Hennessy Road in Wan Chai, J.Co's decor is similar to all the chain
coffee shops out there with a casual and relaxing vibe for customers to have
sweet bites while chilling out.
Didn't take too many photos of the inside as I was too excited about having the donuts (LOL) and here are a few that I have tried:
In
clockwise order: Green tease, Al Capone, Oreology
I'm
not a matcha maniac but Green tease's tea flavour was quite strong and
pronounced, with a tiny hint of sweet and bitter after taste. Very surprised
given that it's a product from a donut shop.
The
almonds in Al Capone (Californian almonds combined with Belgium white
chocolate) were incredibly crunchy which gave the soft and slightly chewy donut
an extra texture. It easily won everyone's heart when combined with the white
chocolate at just the right amount of sweetness.
Didn't
get to try Oreology but most of my friends gave a thumbs up to it for the yummy
cream cheese filling.
In
clockwise order: Oreology, Coco loco, Tira Miss U
Coco
loco is a chocolate cream filled sweetie with chocolate coated on the outside.
A little too sweet for me but it’s gonna give chocoholics a foodgasm for sure.
As
a coffee lover, I really enjoyed the coffee flavoured coating on Tira Miss U
and that smooth filling. Grab this if you are into the magical and aromatic
beans that keep you awake.
Choco
caviar chocolate was a little less chocolatey but I liked this better because
of those crunchy chocolate beads.
Why
Nut's peanut butter cream was a bit too sweet for my liking. Would have been
better if the peanut butter flavour was more intense.
It
is worth mentioning that their donuts are available in mini size and they
are called J.Pops. Simply adorable and reasonably priced (a box of 24 for $98).
A very great party or dessert idea for a group of friends.
We
also got to try J.Co's frozen yoghurt which was a refreshing delight after
downing all the sweet donuts.
Overall
the donuts were lovely and tasty while not being overly sweet nor oily. I am
definitely going back for my donut fix with that friendly price tag ($15@).
