Festive Tasting menu - One Minden Tapas Kitchen

Final countdown to Christmas and let’s keep the joyful vibe going! To give this festival a little twist, One Minden has launched a dinner tasting menu with a list of their specialty Spanish dishes.

The restaurant is medium sized but the tables and chairs are quite well arranged, leaving some private space for each group of patrons to chit chat and have their own great time.

Oh my god OM should get a best design award for their drinks menu - one that made every single drink look super appealing. Would have had a hard time deciding what to order if OM was not a Spanish restaurant.

To me, it just doesn’t feel right to have Spanish food without sipping on a sangria. We have ordered One Minden’s signature ($98), a more fancy one because it’s XMAS and it’s presentation really lived up to its name!

So you can see the red wine, orange slices and fruit juice were contained in a large wine glass (yes, big enough for 2) and topped with foam. The red wine tasted just right with a hint of bitterness and the citrousy sweetness from fruit juice was pleasingly delectable.

36-month handcut Bellota ham (20g)
Handcut ham is a staple in Spanish meals and yay we got this as our appetizer. Rather than wolfing everything down hurriedly, take your time to let the flavours exude in your palate and enjoy the subtle and pleasant aroma.

White anchovy eggplant tart
A thoughtful combination of ingredients where the sour eggplant paste balanced the anchovy’s briny flavour. It came in bite size so I just gobbled them one by one super quickly.

Spanish turkey salad
Loads of fruits and veggie in a light, clean and tangy dressing. Tender turkey pieces added a little saltiness to the dish to make it even better tasting.

Iberico pork cheek bao
Pork cheek was so tender that it almost melted in the mouth and pickles were served in a separate container so we could add as much or as little as we wanted. The only miss was that the outer layer of the bao was a bit dry and powdery which reminded me of that Chinese pastry Guang Su Pin (光酥餅).

Seafood paella (for sharing)
Gigantic for 2 people, rice cooked to al dente and covered with loads of shrimps, mussels and squid. Definitely a highlight of the dinner (probably one for every Spanish dinner too :p), especially to a paella maniac like me.

Orange chocolate trifle
Love love love the cute glass with that dried orange slice! Chocolate mousse was velvety smooth, rich and airy at the same time so it wouldn’t get too overwhelming. Orange is one of the perfect matches with chocolate so it can never go wrong unless you are not into oranges. Just one suggestion though, is that chocolate crunch pieces or popping candies could be used to add a bit of texture instead of the huge chocolate buttons.

Verdict: There’s still room for improvement for a couple of dishes, but unquestionably no complaints for this price and quality.

**$425 per person
